Wellcroft: More Than Just a Building Project

June 11, the day we arrived. Of course, Butch and I went straight to the land after we got to town.

View of garage foundation.                                       View of kitchen corner.

You will notice that the soil is still pretty saturated and muddy.

June 15

We got this video of a Red Breasted Sap Sucker (yes, it's really called that!) bringing food to a single nestling. If you listen you can hear the nestling calling its parent before the adult flies into the picture. (The loud bird that calls twice in the video is a Hermit Thrush.)

June 25

First load of lumber delivered for foundation and sub-flooring. Butch bailing standing water at the kitchen corner of the foundation.

SIMPLE PLEASURES!

Wood Cutting and Stacking June 12 - July 11

3.6 cords of wood in this stack.

Butch chopped 2.5 cords by hand!!!
Using the neighbors splitter

made the work go much faster.

Second and smaller stack of wood - just under 2 cords.

Total in both wood stacks is 5.5 cords.
